There are wines you can only truly understand once you know the people who make them. That's the idea behind Meet the Maker, the evening when we open the doors of the Coravin Wine Bar to a producer and their story. On October 3rd, it's the turn of Masseria di Alba: a territory, a family, a wine — or rather, five.

The format

"5 wines, 1 story." For one evening, the featured winery tells its story in person, glass after glass: five labels for tasting, with the winemaker revealing the land, the choices, and the character behind each wine, while we act as the bridge between those who create it and those who love it.

The star of the evening: Masseria di Alba

Masseria is a family-owned winery in the heart of Piedmont, in Alba. Its story began in 1960, when Lorenzo Giordano purchased the estate together with his wife Giustina; for years only the grapes were sold, then, with the new millennium, the third generation decided to make their own wine. The result is understated wines that stay true to their territory, produced with careful viticulture that keeps the use of chemicals to a minimum. Its finest expression is the Barbaresco Montersino, a single-variety Nebbiolo from the cru of the same name, elegant and full of character; alongside it are the whites PadĂąs and Aurum Vietus and the Langhe Rosso. Tradition, territory, and passion: exactly the kind of story we love to pour into a glass.

What to expect

Five Masseria wines for tasting, a buffet designed with pairings in mind, and the music of Nez Lenezky's DJ set setting the rhythm of the evening. An informal yet elegant way to spend an autumn evening: good wine, good food, and good music.
